Elegance Bratton

Elegance Bratton is an award winning filmmaker, photographer and author, whose debut feature-length fiction film, The Inspection, is being produced by A24, and was originally a 2019 Tribeca All Access grantee and a Film Independent Producing and Fastrack lab selection.

In 2019, Bratton directed his first full-length documentary film, Pier Kids, which opened to huge critical acclaim and went on to win several awards, including the prestigious Independent Spirit “Truer Than Fiction” Award.

Raised in New Jersey, he began his career as a US Marine combat camera production specialist, shooting film and photography. He is a graduate from Columbia University with a degree in African American Studies and from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with an MFA for directing and writing.

Bratton first gained acclaim in 2016 with his short film Walk For Me. His series for Viceland, My House, was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award and won the Cannes MIPCOM Award for Diversity in Television. His 2020 short film Buck was nominated for Best Short Film at the Sundance Film Festival. Bratton’s photographic compilation Bound by Night, was also shortlisted for the Kassel 2014 photo-book award.
