Claire Edmondson

Claire, born in Liverpool and raised in Canada, began her career in directing with music videos for artists such as Austra and Broken Social Scene. Her early career in directing music videos garnered attention and parked conversations about feminism, ownership vs objectification and the “new female gaze.”

In 2014, she was invited to the Tribeca Film Festival to be a part of the inaugural NOW program which showcases up and coming directors who have a promising style, voice and vision displayed in their online work. Edmondson then broke into the commercial world with the film she wrote and directed for Everlast — I’m A Boxer. Adweek, Buzzfeed, and Huffington Post featured the film, with Shots declaring her the “New Director To Watch.” She has since directed many international brand campaigns and was nominated for a Young Director Award for her work on Special K. Her first short film, EXIT, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the Most Promising Director Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival. In 2019 Claire was selected to participate in Ryan Murphy’s Half Foundation Directing Mentorship.
