‘Lance’ Director Marina Zenovich Still Doesn’t Know Why Armstrong Agreed To Do Doc

Marina Zenovich spent over two years with Lance Armstrong for her two-part documentary “Lance,” which will be shown over the next two Sundays at 9 p.m. eastern on ESPN.

Zenovich conducted eight separate sit-down interviews with the seven-time Tour de France champion, who of course sustained his epic fall from grace when it was eventually found out that the testicular cancer survivor was doping nearly his entire professional career. It’s her voice you hear grilling Armstrong during the documentary. The interviews were so good, she told me this week over the phone, that she had to scale black the planned footage of current day Armstrong at speaking engagements and awards ceremonies, with the plan on seeing how the public responded to this 48-year-old part legend, part pariah
